Tolu Arokodare linked with Milan move as Boniface backup, as the Rossoneri search for a powerful yet cost-effective centre-forward. The transfer buzz around this Nigerian talent is gaining momentum in Serie A.
Currently shining at Genk, 24-year-old Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a top target. His towering 1.97 m frame, combined with raw physicality and aerial strength, fits Milan’s striker blueprint. Notably, these qualities echo those of Olivier Giroud. Last season, he netted 23 goals and added seven assists in 45 games. In fact, he scored 21 times in 40 league matches — proving his consistency in front of goal.
Milan’s scouting team has allocated a budget of €20–25 million. As a result, Arokodare aligns perfectly with their financial plan. In contrast, Victor Boniface, who starred at Bayer Leverkusen, commands a fee of €40–45 million. Therefore, Arokodare stands out as the smarter, more affordable option.
His football journey has been diverse. He exploded at Latvia’s Valmiera, scoring 22 goals in just 32 appearances. Then, he took on new challenges in Germany and France. Now, he thrives in Belgium. This broad experience, along with his brute strength and sharp finishing, suits Milan’s tactics. They need a traditional No. 9 who can hold up play, win aerial duels, and convert chances.
However, Arokodare isn’t the only player on Milan’s radar. Santiago Giménez has already joined, while Ardon Jashari remains a midfield target. Even so, Arokodare’s form and profile may be exactly what Milan need to lead their front line.
