In a landmark moment for African football, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed a dazzling new trophy for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco. Unveiled at a glamorous event in Casablanca with partner TotalEnergies, the trophy isn’t just a prize—it’s a bold symbol of the growing stature of women’s football across the continent.
A Symbol of Unity, Excellence and Equality
CAF states that the trophy reflects the rise and recognition of African women’s football, embodying values of unity, empowerment, and excellence. Designed as a nod to the iconic Men’s AFCON trophy, this edition marks a new era—one that places women’s football firmly at the heart of Africa’s sporting future.
Inspired Design, Rich in Meaning
The trophy’s design is a masterstroke. Identical silver petals spiral upward, each symbolising a participating nation. Together, they form a blooming flower—an age-old icon of growth and beauty. From its centre emerges a golden sphere, subtly textured like a football and embossed with Africa’s map, proudly representing the continent’s global ambition in the women’s game.
Craftsmanship That Tells a Story
Crafted in brilliant silver and matte gold, the body is encircled by a golden ring etched with the CAF logo—signaling unwavering commitment to advancing the women’s game across all 54 member associations. The base, a sleek white marble pedestal with gold-accented details, bears the competition’s name in elegant matte lettering, rooting the trophy deeply within African sporting heritage.
A Vision for the Future of African Women’s Football
CAF’s unveiling of this new WAFCON trophy is part of a larger mission: to develop women’s football in Africa into a world-class force. As the continent prepares for Morocco 2025, the trophy stands as a beacon of inspiration—urging young African girls to dream big, believe deeply, and push boundaries on the global stage.
