The CAF Super Cup Pretoria showdown is confirmed, with Mamelodi Sundowns facing USM Alger at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 8 November 2026.

CAF has confirmed the 2026 Super Cup will take place in Pretoria on 8 November. Loftus Versfeld Stadium will host Mamelodi Sundowns against USM Alger at 3:00 pm South African local time.

Confirmed venue and kick-off

CAF confirmed the match will be staged in Tshwane, Pretoria, at the historic Loftus Versfeld Stadium. The governing body has locked in both the date and kick-off time, removing any late uncertainty around the curtain-raiser of the new continental season.

That matters. The Super Cup often opens a new continental campaign with serious intent, and this edition pairs two clubs with real pedigree and sharp recent form.

What the match means

Sundowns arrive as CAF Champions League winners after beating AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate. USM Alger claimed the CAF Confederation Cup after a penalty shootout win over Zamalek, and they travel to South Africa carrying their own strong momentum.

For Sundowns, playing in front of home support in Pretoria is a significant advantage. They have already proven they can handle pressure on the continent, and Loftus Versfeld gives them a familiar and passionate base from which to defend continental honour.

USM Alger, meanwhile, beat Zamalek in a dramatic final and now face another giant from a different corner of African football. The matchup continues a familiar CAF pattern — the Champions League winners against the Confederation Cup holders — a formula that usually delivers a tight, high-stakes contest.

Why fans should care

This is more than a trophy presentation. It is a direct test of two clubs that have already won major continental titles in this cycle. For Sundowns fans, Pretoria offers the chance to turn Loftus Versfeld into a loud, green wall of home support.

For USM Alger supporters, it is a chance to see their side challenge one of Africa’s most consistent modern powers on their own turf. The 3:00 pm kick-off time works well for local supporters and should help generate a strong matchday atmosphere in the South African capital.

Forward look

CAF has now given the competition a clear stage, a clear time, and a compelling headline fixture. Attention now shifts to the build-up, the team news, and the first tactical clues before Pretoria lights up on 8 November.
